About Us

Valenta Diesels Limited (VDL) was born out of the 125 Group that had been established during 1994 to report on the InterCity 125 HST fleet that was generally ignored by the wider railway press. During 2006 it became clear that the majority of the HST fleet would, over the coming few years, be re-engineered with new engines ousting the erstwhile Paxman ‘Valenta’. VDL was therefore created during 2006 with the initial intention of securing critical components released from the re-engineering projects to enable long term Valenta operation in a small number of power cars beyond widespread usage on the national rail system. Our long term goal is to own and operate Paxman Valenta fitted HST’s and to provide assistance and support to any other operators using HST’s in the future.

Components

VDL have already secured large quantities of critical components including quantities of Valenta engines and Marston cooler groups. During the course of our business we have also acquired quantities of parts that will not be required by VDL but are likely to be of use to preservation groups as they are generic across a number of other loco classes.
